Sara is Head of Chambers.
As a specialist family barrister, Sara has a wealth of experience which has developed over a number of years, initially in London Chambers where she was a tenant at 4 King’s Bench Walk, Inner Temple, London (Chambers of Timothy Raggett QC) and since 1998 at Chambers. Since the start of her career she has dealt with public and private law cases along with ancillary relief.
Sara has dealt with many public law cases on behalf of parents, local authorities, guardians and the official solicitor in courts at every level and has dealt with every variety of case including more complex cases such as those involving serious sexual abuse (including alleged paedophile “rings”), fabricated illness by proxy ,non-accidental head injury, severe physical abuse (including cases where children have been killed/ disabled) cases where one or both parent is suffering mental illness and cases where one or both parents have been seeking asylum in the UK.
As well as dealing with private law cases of every type she has also been instrumental in successfully appealing cases and, for example, has appeared in front of Dame Butler-Sloss in the High Court.
Increasingly Sara has also dealt with cases where the Hague Convention applies, appearing in the High Court both on behalf of Claimants and Respondents under the Hague Convention.
Sara has also dealt regularly with ancillary relief claims including more complicated cases where conduct has been an issue and increasingly deals with cases of substantial value both in the County Court and High Court.
Sara is also an active member of the Family Law Bar Association and ex-secretary of the South West Wales Committee of the FLBA and remains a door tenant in her London Chambers.
Despite the often complex nature of the cases which she deals with, Sara is approachable and unpretentious and is able to help and reassure both lay and professional clients. She prides herself on always being willing to provide assistance by telephone, E-mail, conference or by way of written advice at any time and often at short notice.
Sara has qualified as direct access / public access family counsel.
